It has been a little over a month since Amane started crawling and I find myself telling her to watch her head and not to touch things at home constantly. I wanted her to play in a bigger space where I don't have to keep pulling her away from furniture all the time.
While in Japan, we visited a Children's Wellfare Center. They are usually inside city hall buildings with features like libraries, gyms and playrooms full of toys. They are free for everybody and open from 9 to 5. It was a very convenient and helpful place to visit.
Since we got back, I have been searching for a similar facility here, but it seems like there's no such thing.
All of the indoor playgrounds require membership fees or at least charge for each visit.
We made a visit to PLAY Activity Center in Roswell last Sunday. They had two gyms, some play areas with toys (trains, kitchen, rice sand etc.), and a parents lounge. But we felt like there wasn't much an 8 month crawler can do there except play in the ball pit in the gym. And it wasn't particularly clean. We are going to check out one of the Gymborees in our area this weekend. I will report on how that goes!
雨音がはいはいしだして早1ヶ月強が過ぎました。
勿論成長は喜ばしい事なのですが、一時も目を離せないというのは正直結構なストレス。
気付けば
「危ない危ない」「だめだめ」を繰り返していて、これは不健康、打開策を練らねばと早速行動開始。ミッション：子供がのびのび遊べる場所を探せ！
帰省中は実家近くの児童館や、デパートにある室内遊戯場を利用していたのですが、アメリカにはどうやらそのような施設は無い様子。
図書館での絵本読み聞かせなんかは開催されてるものの、年齢制限があったりで、んーイマイチ。
という訳で、有料の室内遊戯状を見学しに行ってきました。
今回私達が行った所は体育館2つ、電車や子供キッチンなんかが置いてある、低い壁で仕切られているエリアが数カ所、ご飯を食べる場所、親がくつろげるラウンジ。など、割と充実してるんですが、８ヶ月のはいはい子供が遊べそうな箇所はやや少なめ。
一番びっくりしたのは、『砂場』の砂が米！しかも床中散らばったまんま！1日の終わりに掃除して補充すんのかな。余計なお世話ですけんど。
ちなみに利用料は１日あたり７㌦。（親同伴の場合）
悪くないけれど、やや清潔感に欠ける感も否めない。今週末他の施設も見学予定なので、それから決めよう。
それにしても児童館って素晴らしいと改めて思う。
でもあれはマナーや礼儀に敏感な日本だから成り立つ制度かもな。
