It was quite dark and depressing, but I think it was really well made. The story is about the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent investigation.
What separated this series from other crime/suspense series was that it focused a lot on the lives of the victim's family. I can never imagine what would be like to be in their situation, but this drama made it seem very real to me. And it made it very hard to watch because their pain was just too much to bear.
And all the characters were well crafted and played; they were believeable.
It also had many twists and turns to keep the story interesting and most of all, it didn't have a cheap love-hate relationship between the main characters (like in "Bones" ). I hate romance in crime dramas. That's my problem, I guess, but it was somewhat refreshing to not have that aspect in this drama.
Anyways, I highly recommend this series and I'm looking forward to season 3!
The Killing〜闇に眠る美少女〜シーズン1、2を見ました。
17歳の少女の殺人事件解決までの26日間を26話で構成。
アメリカの犯罪ドラマってエリート美人捜査官みたいのが主人公で、そこにまた２枚目の検死官とかジャーナリストとか作家とかを投入して安い恋愛ドラマ仕立てになっちゃってる場合が多いけど、このシリーズはそういう浮ついた設定は皆無。
（ロマンスが絡むと一気に萎える私の好奇心）
主人公はくたびれた、笑顔がひきつってるシングルマザーと元ヤク中の若造警官コンビ。
普通の女子高生だったと思ってた被害者にも、一見平安に見えた家族にも秘密があって、事件は舞台にもなっているシアトルの市長選挙まで絡んで来る。
そして真相が判明した後の最後の一撃は切な過ぎて泣きました。
このドラマでは被害者家族側のストーリーにも捜査と同じ位時間が割かれていて、見るのが辛くなる程だったけど、それがドラマを真実味と深みのあるものにしていたような気がします。
久しぶりに良いドラマだったな、本気で推薦です。シーズン3が今から楽しみ。
